They both have different uses, you may need a combination of both.

The jumper is used to reduce noise, and the offset is used to compensate for variations in hardware.

Try the offset first, if it doesn't work, try the jumper.

I wanted to follow up so others may have some reference to the problem at hand. During the last 4-6 months I have been seeing extremely large spikes in power being sent from the ISY e-mail alert.

These values would appear like 92399459 watts!

None of these spikes would show up on the GEM, SEG, DB at all. Later on the main line voltage appeared to swing hi / low for no apparent reason. Monitoring the main service panel with an extremely accurate Fluke meter showed that the main line was a solid 120 volts.

Using several other tools I have on hand also confirmed that the main line voltage was rock solid and steady. I was able to compare the two readings to the GEM / Dash Box.

The variance was appearing in the GEM / DB systems. Changing the PT values to correct the variance seem to fix the problem for a short period of time. As time went on the swing in voltage was getting much worse.

As the voltage changed the wattage being displayed was also changing. With the great support of Brultech a new PT transformer was sent out.

Several channels that were giving me a lot of spikes and random generated values have since gone away. :P

Right now I continue to monitor and record the solar, sump, fridge, dryer circuits. Right now the only two circuits that appear to have some random wattage values is the fridge & sump.

I have a new monitoring device coming in the next few weeks that will confirm if the sump is actually kicking in for a brief moment, and will compare the two values to the DB / ISY.

Many thanks to Ben, Tammy, for getting the PT Transformer out to me so quickly.

Ben,

Can you ask Paul to install about 20 jumpers into your test box and report back how the GEM reacts.

Ben,

Just circling back with the status of the jumper wires.

Ben,

Has Paul replied back as to how his test went? This week end I plan on installing one more jumper on the sump pump circuit as I am unsure if this is a noise issue.

Or the sump pump is actually running at extremely short intervals.

Been way too busy to test it out unfortunately. I would remove the CT first to see if there's noise, if so adjust the offset. If not, try the jumper.
