Dashbox going offline...

Post by fester » Tue Dec 26, 2023 3:49 pm

Been noticing in the last few months, that my dash box has occasionally stopped generating data for the webpage. It appears to be operating normally, the green light is on and receiving RS 232 data every five seconds has shown by the red flash, but I'll have to do, a reboot by removing power then re-connectinf for it to begin showing on the webpage again. Firmware is current. Anyone else seeing this?

What F/W is the DashBox running? (should show it in the footer).

Running the 4.2.4c17g latest. Seems like I've noticed this with the last couple of updates.

When it's in this state and you unplug it, does the LED go to orange immediately then solid red?

The green with red flash sounds like the DashBox is still operational and may be a network issue. Does it have a Static IP?

As I recall, I do get the orange light then red when unplugging power. Seems to startup normally, then back online. I think it's set for a static IP address. I don't seem to need any network changes when it does this, it comes back up at the same IP address.

How old is the unit?

More than a couple of years old. The number on the "holotape" is 226138.

Unplug the unit, wait for the LED to turn solid red, and pop the MicroSD card out at the back.

What's the make/model?

Are you able to forward ports to the DashBox?

Its a DB-2 Dashbox, The sd card is a sandisk "high endurance" 32 gig. Not sure about the port forwarding, my Gem is an older wifi/Rs-232. The only ethernet port is just my local LAN.

When the data disappears and you reboot, does there appear to be any gaps in data (minus the couple minutes for reboot)?
