Communication Protocols

Post by TheCoose » Tue Nov 02, 2010 5:31 pm

Hi,

Looking at ordering a few items, but I wanted to understand the Communication Protocol a bit better. I understand the physical layer quite well, but I'm a little concerned with the Comm Protocol as it seems (from what I've read) that the data is an ASCII protocol. Is there a manual on the command sets and the error handling? I just want to be sure that I'm not buying something that I'm not going to be happy with.

Thanks in Advance!

Hey TheCoose,

We have 3 choices for packets: binary, ASCII, and HTTP Posts.

There are no real need for commands since the monitor sends data at a regular interval. The commands are mainly used for setup and we can provide those if you're interested.

We can't provide the manual without a purchase being made.

I just went ahead and ordered some items. I'll get them in hand and see what I can do with them.

Is there any Integrator pricing or is the pricing 'one size fits all'?

Thanks for the reply!

Send an email to sales(at)brultech.com about pricing and Tammy will help you out.

Hey Ben,

Is there a place to get the Binary and ASCII protocol manuals? I'd like to go through those now. I have the unit updating to the my1240 site, but I'd like to do some direct polling. Thanks!

Yep, we don't put that information online, so just send me an email with your order number and I'll send you the packet information.

You'll also need to download the EtherX software so you can redirect your plug n play package..

Hi Ben,
I am interested in learning how to communicate via HTTP posts. Can you send me the details?

Thanks,
Chris
