Support for 50Hz European Grid

Post by linus » Thu Sep 30, 2010 5:28 am

Hi,

I found the product very exciting. Are the European power line standard supported (50Hz 220-240VAC single phase and 50 Hz 380-400VAC 3 phase)?

Thank you

Hey Linus,

We do not currently support 50Hz.

Really ?
Are you sure!

Mine is 50Hz and whilst you may not be front of the queue for the latest firmware (which is not an issue). It works and I have received very good support specific to 50Hz.

Just remember not to download and install web site 'stock' 60Hz firmware, apart from than that 50Hz is fine and dandy. Can't really see an issue for the 3ph combo, although best to ask again to someone 'official'.

We don't officially support it yet as it requires special configuration. But, we were able to find a few 50 Hz units in our stock.

I'll send Linus an email.

Hi,

I continued to investigate on the general matter and specific 50Hz support but
if I gained a superficial understanding of the product and related sw suite (also if pick
up the right techinfo is not always easy navigating the site) same I can't say about 50Hz support.

I understood (thank you Roscoe) that the previous sw was supporting 50Hz and it worked fine but it seems is no longer true with last versions. Can you confirm 50Hz support is not a matter of hardware? What other problems I will be facing?

Furthermore as general question how is performed the voltage sensing? Can you better explain how to support 3 phase circuits?

The real problem is that I wasn't able to locate manuals, programming guide and other technical documentation. Probably it's my fault, sorry for that. Let me know if is that available only as post-sale assistance.

Thank you all for the support

Regards

Hey Linus,

The 50 Hz setup requires different hardware and firmware, we have a couple in stock.

We don't officially support 3 phase yet, but there are ways of monitoring 3 phase systems with 3 ECM-1240s http://www.etherbee.com/images/ECM-1240%203%20phase.png. With 50 Hz, 3 phase line-to-line voltage is in the area of 400V, our CTs are only rated for 300V.

I'm interested too to the 50Hz version of the product!

You speak about a different hardware and firmware:

is it an older/different model or a special flavour of the latest one?

I'd need 20/30 pieces: can you produce 50Hz versions in "volume"?

Do you think to officially support European Model in a near future?

Thank you in advance!

The firmware for 50Hz is essentially the same, the difference being some of the timing variables and calibration constants being different.

A far as volume sales to Europe, we do not plan on it at this time. We can supply small batches (20/30) pcs.

Hi Paul,

I would like to proceed buying a sample. I was thinking to buy a couple of PP1-100 PLUG & PLAY PACKAGE for 50Hz 220V use. What part number exactly I have to order?

Best regards
