ECM 1240 installation inside enclosure

Post by jfisher » Wed Jul 07, 2010 6:18 pm

I am working on a project which requires concealing the ECM 1240 inside a PVC electrical enclosure. My original plan was to put an outlet for the power supply, as well as the ECM 1240 inside the enclosure. We will be monitoring remotely and do not want the device to be unplugged, so ideally we would have everything inside an enclosure. However, I read that the ECM 1240 should not be installed inside an electrical panel with potential high voltages. Does this plan to install an outlet into the same enclosure fall into this category? Would I have to do two enclosures, and if so how far apart must they be?

There is no problem if the electrician installs a standard electrical outlet (according to your local electrical code) in the enclosure.
