Inverter CTs (Solar/Wind Systems)

The ECM-1240 can monitor the energy produced by a renewable energy installation where the generated power tied to the power grid using an inverter.

1. Inverter connected to a 240V circuit breaker using a split core CT.

A split-core CT may be used for monitoring the power generated and converted to 240V AC for connection to the electric grid. Although the diagram shows a 240V inverter system, the same diagram would apply to 120V inverters.

A SPLIT-60 CT would be used when:

  • The CTs is to be installed without disconnecting the inverter.
  • CH1 or CH2 is used to monitor the inverter
  • Accuracy is desired.

(NOTE: The SPLIT-60 cannot be connected to the AUX channels. If a split CT is required for use with the AUX channels, select the TT-100 CT).

2. Inverter connected to a 240V circuit breaker using a donut style CT.

A donut style CT may be used for monitoring the power generated and converted to 240V AC for connection to the electric grid. Although the diagram shows a 240V inverter system, the same diagram would apply to 120V inverters.

A "Donut" CT is used when:

  • There is limited CT space in the panel.
  • An AUX channel is used to monitor the inverter
